About Me
MY BACKGROUND
Ellie Meinershagen is a Senior at Rick Reedy High School in Frisco, TX.
In 2015, she created Ellie's Mum Challenge, a project which invites students to challenge the status quo and show school spirit with a new option. Ellie's Mum Challenge has partnered with local florists to bring back the simplicity of the Texas Homecoming mum tradition, with the proceeds going to local charities in need. Over the course of four years, the project has expanded to become citywide and over $5,500 has been raised for the community.
Ellie also serves as the President of Reedy Orchestra at Reedy High School. She is a member of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and teaches private music lessons outside of school. Next year Ellie will be double majoring in Cello Performance and Advertising at Baylor University on both academic and music scholarships.
MY MISSION
My mission is to make use of the opportunities provided by the Independent Study and Mentorship program to the fullest extent, and in doing so, gain a deeper understanding of the various types of creative advertising. I hope to learn more about the processes behind motion design, graphic design, and video marketing, as well as the proper tools to create such advertisements. My goal is to develop a portfolio to showcase all of the skills which I will learn through firsthand mentor experiences and individual exploration and research. Lastly, I seek to gain a professional network and establish relationships that will be beneficial to starting a career in the field of advertising.

About ISM
Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) is a rigorous, challenging course offered at Frisco ISD high schools. This program is designed for academically gifted and high achieving students who are juniors or seniors. It receives weighted credit (5.5 points).
Students who want to take ISM go through a selection and application process and are chosen to participate in this exciting, rigorous elective. They select careers or topics of study, and the ISM teacher helps students narrow down and focus this topic of study. Students conduct informational interviews with professionals in this chosen field and from this process, they carefully choose a mentor with whom to work for the remainder of the year (usually the second semester).

Go Local Group offers each member with a non-competing local business network for continuous interaction and growth from a sustainable 'group' of local support.
