Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

  • What is the mission of this challenge?

Ellie's Mum Challenge can be summed up in four words: bring back, give back. Ellie's Mum Challenge invites students to downsize their mums, bringing back the simple Texas Homecoming tradition of wearing real chrysanthemum flowers, while giving back to a local charity in need.

  • How did the Homecoming mum tradition begin?

Texas started the Homecoming mum tradition years ago at Baylor University. Students wore their Homecoming mums to the game to show their school spirit. In order to bring back the original intent of this tradition, we have created Ellie's Mum Challenge. Our mums are made with real chrysanthemum flowers, and all of the proceeds will benefit a local charity in need.

  • Can I get a big mum and Ellie's mum?

Ellie's Mum Challenge is simply another option for students who may not want a larger mum but still want to show their school pride. Ellie's Mum Challenge only offers small, real chrysanthemum flowers, but you are welcome to purchase or create a big mum and wear that as well!

  • What type of flower is it?

Our mums are made with real chrysanthemum flowers.

  • How long do the flowers last?

We recommend that you pick up your mum the morning of your school's Homecoming game to be worn throughout the day and at the game.

  • Do they have a strong smell?

No, they are practically odorless.
