Weekly Report 4: 09/10/2018 to 09/16/2018
Recently, I have been researching entrepreneurship and starting one’s own business. In learning more about the fundamentals of social media marketing, I realized how critical making use of digital tools can be. Social media platforms are relatively inexpensive, especially when used without statistical analysis. Making use of these materials is a beneficial way to connect with consumers and inform a wider audience of one’s brand, thus increasing salience. To apply this, my goal for the next week is to continue researching more about the statistical analysis side of brand marketing. Because of my mum challenge, I have already learned a lot in regards to advertising using social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, etc., but I would like to learn more about the proper times to post on each platform, when is best to reach a wide audience, and what kinds of materials and mediums are most effective in persuading consumers. To do this, my research will focus on learning how to use data trackers and how to interpret graphs. It is necessary to familiarize myself with the proper techniques for measuring effectiveness of social media marketing in order to be successful.
Recently, I met with Ms. Karen Bouton from NextWave Creative at Legacy West. Ms. Bouton shared her insight on being a graphic design artist for wide screen audiences, producing works which can fill entire walls. Her knowledge about applications like Adobe Premiere and Illustrator was extremely helpful in directing my research for the upcoming week, as I will begin to use these platforms to practice motion design, graphic design, and photoshop in order to get used to the applications and their functions. The research will encompass the use of YouTube tutorials in order to use established techniques to absorb information about the world of creative advertising.
